Public Sentiment

Being asked to measure, monitor, and sway public sentiment is becoming an increasingly important aspect of my business.  I met with someone else today from an extremely large organization who wants my assistance on this.  When I shared that we can measure what people are saying and develop a measure of sentiment not just on Twitter or Facebook, but across nearly the entire web he was thrilled.  Having access to such analytics is extremely valuable to companies, organizations, and governments.

Brian Newmark made a new friend this weekend.

This weekend I met a unique individual.  Like most, I see people any my mind goes "Brian Newmark, he/she looks nice or Brian Newmark, be polite and keep moving..."  Saturday night, my wife and I were meeting friends for dinner.  We got their a bit early so we sat at the bar to have drink.  Next to us was this enormous guy and within seconds it was clear he had a personality to match.

My wife and I ordered our drinks and started to talk.  Not sure how it happened, but my always friendly wife said something to him and the next thing you know this hugely intimidating looking guy became this incredibly nice teddy bear of a person.

Soon our friends arrived and joined the conversation.  Forty five minuted later we were still talking to the guy.  On the spot we tried to set him up with a close friend of my wife's, we'll see if that goes anywhere.  I hope it does as they are both wonderful people looking for someone to share life experiences with.  As for me, I made a new friend.  This one certainly goes in the category of not my typical friend, but that is what makes life interesting.

As you know, I rarely brag about Brand.com in my posts.  That is not my thing.  But, this week has to be an exception.  As a Christmas gift Brand.com's president was attacked on a hate site by a competitor.  The postings were totally false, but no one whats to see that type of hatred written about them on the web.

I always tell my ORM internet marketing clients that if the content written about them is false, we can get it de-indexed from Google, Bing and Yahoo, but it will take 1-4 months.  I am very happy to share that this week, a mere three weeks after the attacks all 4 hates sites were taken off of Google.  The presidents Google search results are now clean again.  A clear sign that reputation management is critical, it works and it is worth the investment.

If you have false or slanderous content on the internet about you, let me know.  We can get it taken down.

Sandra Bullock singing the song I have been for years

It is now all over the news, Sandra Bullock Googled herself and now it is a "hot" thing to do.  Really??? I have been preaching for years that people need to take a look on the web to see what is out there about them.

If you have not done so in a while, I strongly recommend you go to Google Bing and Yahoo to see what it says when you search yourself.  If your name is too common, put in your town next to your name.

Take a look at some of these links about Sandra Bullock:

Maybe Sandra Bullock should call Brian Newmark for some help?
